2002-04-27 - 10:59 p.m. : "and she'll have fun fun fun til her daddy takes the t-bird away" : Today was not as stressful as I feared that it would become. I got up at 11:30 and started reading The Golden Ass for Roman Civ. It gets pretty pornographic at times. Who says porn and literature don't mix? Not nearly as painful to read as I feared in it's own absurd way. Ah, Rome. I had just laid my head down and closed my eyes to sleep, giving up on the possibility of the pool when Belly Bopper showed up because her meeting had been canceled so I got my suit on and we went out for about an hour. We swam around a bit with the fun noodles and then went to check out the pig roast in it's early stages to see what other food types existed. I was not excited by Boca Burgers. But there were some people I new there and we were all exchanging glasses to see who was more blind. And I talked to Texas for a few which was nice and invited him to the beach party tomorrow so he said that he would round up some folks to come. It will be a good time.

I am still worried about some of my friends not getting along so well but I feel that if all the people who said that they would come actually show up then everyone will have someone to keep themselves entertained and friction should be limited. In an ideal world. It will be okay and I will have fun, dammit.

Since the pig roast wasn't so enticing and Belly Bopper was starting to gnaw on my shoulder, we went back to my apartment so that I could feed her. I made grilled cheese in my cast iron pan and we watched Chocolat until my Aunt SweetPea called and said that she and the boy cousins were about half an hour out so I jumped in the shower and found my pretty Indian dress which was actually clean enough to wear and was ready just in time for her knock on the door.

She got my candy bar balls on sticks (I'm not sure what they're really called but they're super yummy looking) from the Chocolate Factory and we went to El Greco for dinner and she got to see downtown for the first time (since she's only ever been to St. Armands when she's been down here to visit). The boy cousins were tired and cranky but loveable as ever and even gave me hugs with out being prompted. And when we came back to campus Pro-Life was in our room so she got to meet him which felt a bit weird for me but was fine, really. I'm always weird about my family meeting people especially boyfriends. I think that I would have been a jittery wreck if it had been my parents instead of my aunt. I don't really know what it is about introducing boyfriends to family but it's always a little awkward feeling.

After all of that Belly Bopper and Feather Boa Girl and I went to Jo-Ann/Target/Publix to get knitting supplies for Belly Bopper and food and shampoo for FBG. And then we all went back to Belly Bopper's room so that I could teach her how to knit. I had to restrain my motherly tendencies and try not to dote too much. But it's super fun to have people to be crafty with.

I got a little red on my shoulders from not wearing sunscreen today but nothing awful. It should convert to tan nicely. And I've got lots of El Greco leftovers to feed me for a few days (Spanikopita and stromboli and pizza and yum). And talking to the boy did not feel stressful this evening which was nice (but we will still talk, I won't wuss out of the talking). So maybe one of these days soon we can find a day that will just be for us and maybe we can talk about things then. But for the time being he's working on making it to the beach tomorrow (because I said I'd rather have him at the beach for a while than splitting up the time, that the movie watching was not quite as important). And I think it will be okay and I think that I can be brave.

Back to work for me. I just have to keep my focus for a couple more hours and tomorrow will be fun fun fun in the sun. I want to make a sand castle. I must freeze the grapes. And my period has shitty timing.
